You Are Infinitely Capable Series

Greatness is built, not reserved for a select few who were different, special, lucky, talented, etc. All those we look up to are just as capable as you or me. Meaning you are just as capable as them to live the life you desire.

The 'You Are Infinitely Capable Series' will be highlighting stories of greatness pulling back the curtain on success and achievement.

Our first story is about David Goggins.

Many know David Goggins as one of the toughest individuals on the planet both mentally and physically. They look at him as an individual who was just made differently.

However, this couldn't be further from the truth. David Goggins started his journey to learning how to overcome his brain and achieve the unthinkable as an individual who fell prey to his mind's inhibitory defaults, doubts, and insecurities.

Before he joined the SEALs he weighed 297 lbs, was working as an exterminator, and in his book "Can't Hurt Me" discusses how he wasn't going anywhere in life.

However, he decided he wanted to be a SEAL. To do that he had to lose 106lbs and pass a test he had failed multiple times before, in less than 3 months.

In his book, he talks about all the doubts and fears you and I experience filling his head during these 3 months. His brain told him he would never make it, that he was crazy for thinking this was possible, that he wasn't good enough.

However, he learned how to overcome these thoughts (his only true limitations) by envisioning his future self, flooding his system with motivation and positivity, and using proof of losing small amounts of weight to spur him further.

As he continued to learn how to master his mind he conquered greater and greater feats. However, those doubts, fears, and the desire to stay comfortable never went away and will never go away. As he has openly talked about he still doesn't WANT to go run or wake up early.

David Goggins isn't different, more gifted, or more able than you or me. He is proof that the possibilities for our life are so much greater than we think, when we learn to master our mind.

If you want to read the story yourself I cannot recommend "Can't Hurt Me" highly enough. Make sure to pay close attention in Chapter 3 when he discusses losing all that weight and enduring many of the thoughts and doubts you experience in your own life.
