Stop Waiting For Results

Aug 06, 2023

Our default is to do some work and instantly look for the fruits of our labor.

It is our brain wanting proof our extra effort was worth it.

The problem is to make a real change in your life it takes time and great deal of little changes built on top of one another.

The problem we run into is we work hard to make a change, then check the metaphorical, or actual, mirror for results. When we do not see any we get discouraged.

Our brain starts to swirl with all the doubts, inhibitory thoughts, and desire to quit. It is extremely challenging to consistently overcome these thoughts.

One way to help minimize them is to simply not give your brain the ammunition.

Avoid the mirror, don't go searching for results. Instead, measure your success by your inputs.

Meaning change your definition of winning to whether or not you went and worked out, put in extra effort at work, spent time on your side hustle, studied a little extra, wrote a few pages of your book, etc.

When you do that enough, the results you were looking for will come and use can use the motivation and pride to continue to propel you forward.

However, if you keep looking for these results from the beginning, you exponentially decrease your chances of ever making it.
